After studying French at university, Simon decided to head to the French Alps for a year as he decided on the path of his career. He ended up spending five years in various ski resorts and managed the operations for a chalet company. This was when he fell in love with cycling. Ironically, this was not through riding the famous local roads, but when a spell in the hospital for a knee operation meant that he had to watch every minute of Chris Froome's maiden Tour de France victory!
After returning to the UK, he was fortunate enough to be able to combine his knowledge of the French Alps with his passion for cycling, taking groups to some of Europe's biggest races and sportives. He resisted the pressure to run a marathon, until he took a group of runners to the New York Marathon, and now is always keen to fit a marathon into his holiday - whether it's London, Paris or even Muscat.
