What made you start running?
I wanted to go to Antarctica to complete my travel goal.
When and why did you decided to you were going to run a half-marathon or marathon on all seven continents?
Three years ago when my friend introduced me to Marathon Tours & Travel. It was a little after I made the commitment to challenge myself.
How do you stay motivated through all those miles?
I have been fortunate. I have met wonderful people on the course, the scenery and the determination to finish what I started.
How many marathons and/or half-marathons have you run?
I have done two full marathons and about 25 half-marathons.
What is your favorite race and why?
This is hard to answer. Each race gave me/taught me something special. If I had to choose, it would be Antarctica because of the unspoiled beauty tied with the Australian Outback. There’s something special about Ayers Rock.
What race did you learn the most about yourself?
Patagonia. It really took me out of my element. It was a tough trail race. I learned not to give up no matter how tough. It was a 'I will pass out first before I die 101' moment.
What is your favorite part about running and traveling?
Running has introduced me to so many wonderful people of all skill levels. Traveling to see the world has always been in my blood.
It doesn’t have to be a race, but what is your favorite place/city to run?
Paris. It is my all-time favorite city.
What word would your friends use to describe you?
Crazy comes up often followed by adventurous.
What words of advice would you give to someone who is training for their first marathon or half-marathon?
Never give up and remember you’re doing it for yourself and no one else!
