Today's Tuesday Teammate Spotlight is on Liz, our Pastry Chef on board one of our 2018 Antarctica ships. Liz quickly became a client favorite before anyone had met her with her delicious baking skills. We finally met Liz when she came out of the kitchen and asked us if she could participate in the Antarctica Marathon to commemorate her last Antarctica cruise. Even though she had never participated in a marathon or half-marathon before, we agreed to let her run since:
- She obviously understood the conditions in Antarctica.
- A number of clients offered to support her on the course.
- She agreed that we would stop her at the half-marathon distance if she was below the cutoff time pace.
On race day Liz was in the kitchen by 2:00 AM and by the time the runners arrived for breakfast she had the best cinnamon rolls waiting for them to fuel their run. By the end of race day, Liz had not only solidified her reputation as our favorite Pastry Chef of any Antarctica cruise, she had also become a marathoner by finishing well ahead of the cutoff time!
