Fhurisco, Lala and Lova….three amazing and experienced guides that we have been fortunate to have for our past two Madagascar Marathon Tours. Each has a passion for the wildlife and the beautiful fauna of their country; each have their own distinct personality that makes it so enjoyable to be in their company; and each has their own unique interests that adds another dimension to our tour.
Fhursico is an avid photographer and what better place to practice than the bush on our hikes and treks. He has an eye for photography and shares his passion with clients who also have the goal to capture the intriguing sites they encounter whether in the city, countryside or rain forest.
Lala has a permanent smile, whether we are trekking in the pouring rain or in the heat of the sun. He embraces those around him and shares his love of his country. This is easily seen in the way he interacts with not only our clients but his fellow countrymen. We were fortunate on our last trip to watch him lead the local children sing the national anthem and demonstrate his dance and balance skills!
Lova has been guiding since 2008 and says that what he loves about his job is that it has made him appreciate his authentic country and he gets to share that with his clients. His other love (in addition to his family) is volleyball where he competed on the national team and was Madagascar’s champion of beach volleyball in 2005. Yes, he is a very playful spirit and you will feel that!
What is unique about our Madagascar guides is that not only are they showing and teaching us about lemurs, birds, fauna, brick making, the rice fields, and the history of the country (to name a few things), but they are also key to the success of our race. They are just as excited as our runners to be part of the experience and are out on the course at water stations or doing whatever is asked. They are gems and make your Madagascar experience an unforgettable one!
The guides are very knowledgeable, have great personalities and fluent in English. They made excursions very enjoyable and I learned so much about the country.
