What I liked best was the camaraderie. This trip was filled with supportive individuals with a similar purpose--to run the Great Wall. I also enjoyed the tours and excursions. Some may want more free time, but being in a foreign country, it was good to be structured-making sure we saw the important areas of the country.
Everything seemed to come together perfectly for this trip. I honestly feel the money I spent was worth every penny for the cultural experiences I received.
I liked meeting people from all over the world with the same passion for running. The race itself - more challenging than I ever anticipated, but that made it so much more meaningful.
We were truly impress with the amazing level of detailed organization on such a grand scale, the hotels A+, food, I don't believe anyone will complain about not having had enough to eat. I am now trying to loose the 10 or 12 lbs I gained. The river cruise was so relaxing, peaceful and very scenic..... Sorry I can't think of any one thing I liked the best. oops, I take that back. Our MT guide Scott was AWESOME. I found myself observing him on several occasions, and I am convinced that he posses a certain quality about him that is exceptional only to those who truly love their job and people in general. To be able to deal with so many people and all the different personalities without once showing any level of annoyance is to be commended.
Karen is awesome. She answered all questions promptly and thoroughly. She has a calm, but incredibly organized demeanor that made the trip both for fun and efficient.
I love being able to say I ran the Great Wall and that I went to China. But, really, it was the good friends I made along the way and being with so many people for a single purposes and memory we experienced together.
The Great Wall did not disappoint for adventure and stamina needed to complete the race. Local Guides and sites were terrific. Also liked the Rikshaw ride into old Beijing
Experiencing the Great Wall itself was by far the pinnacle. The terra-cotta warriors in Xi'an were a close second.
From the very first email all our questions were answered within the same day, and additional tips and help was always offered !!! Great contrast to another agency.
We definitely hit the big sightseeing destinations of the cities. Forbidden City, Great Wall and the Terra Cotta Warriors were all must sees and I'm glad we did them. Lots of good food.
Scott was with us, he was very accommodating and helped make this happen during one of the shopping trips in Beijing and in Xian. As for Marathon Tours guides - Scott was fantastic and on top of things
This is a Unforgettable 26 mile Marathon-Obsticle Course of Epic Measure!
I really enjoyed almost every aspect of the trip! The Marathon Tours staff was amazing; the guides were very personable and knowledgeable; the accommodations were excellent.
Well planned and organized by Marathon Tours. Meeting many very nice people! Visited many locations, sites etc. that I never would have done on my own...I wouldn't have know how to do them all...? Many very good memories of the entire trip!
A fascinating tour covering the highlights of China and enabling travellers to experience both modern and rural China.
