Iceland Volcano Marathon, Half-Marathon & Quarter Marathon

Our five-night package includes one night in Reykjavik and four-nights in Mývatn. To help you decide on the hotel you wish to be in, please read the descriptions below. All hotels feature free WiFi. Please note that it is not possible to combine the hotels in any other ways than shown in package pricing. 

Mývatn Hotels 
The hotels in Mývatn are spread around the perimeter of the lake, with Guesthouse Eldá and Icelandair Hotel Mývatn being within walking distance of the finish line. SEL Hotel is located on the southern shore, which is a short drive from the start and finish, however the best location to explore the stunning nature around Lake Myvatn on your own. 

Guesthouse Eldá (Economy Package): Located centrally in the village of Reykjahlid, this cozy guesthouse is only a few kilometers from the start and finish area, as well as the Jardbödin Nature Baths. Rooms are basic, however clean and comfortable.  Toilets and showers are on shared basis in the hallway. A breakfast buffet is served in the common dining area. The kitchen is open for guests and allows you to cook your own meals for lunch and dinner. Groceries available in the supermarket 300 meters from the guesthouse.

Nice to know:

• Pre-race dinner is located at Icelandair Hotel.  You will have a 10 minute walk to/from dinner.
• Shoes are not allowed inside at Eldá so it is recommended to bring a pair of slippers.

SEL Hotel (Comfort Plus Package): A family run hotel with a cozy, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Located south of Lake Mývatn in the small village of Skútustadir, this hotel is the perfect spot to explore the fascinating pseudo-craters that can be reached just by crossing the road. The hotel rooms are nicely furnished and the restaurant serves fine-tasting home-cooked dishes and offers both buffet and a’la carte menu. It is approximately 15 kilometers from the start and finish area. Race transfers are provided on race day.

• The Reykjahlid supermarket is only 500 meters up the road
• This hotel is the first in the area to introduce a re-useable waste

Reykjavík Hotels
Below are the hotels used for the first night in Reykjavik. Please note that the hotel combinations in the accommodation packages are fixed and cannot be amended.

Hotel Cabin Reykjavik (Economy Package): Overlooking the bay the Hotel Cabin is a great place to explore the scenic Sculpture & Shore Walk path into the city center. Standard rooms are simple and relatively small, however comfortable for a good night's sleep.

Fosshotel Lind (Comfort Plus Package): Comfortably located in the city center of Reykjavik, near the main shopping area, Laugavegur. You will find numerous cafes, restaurants, museums and shops right at your doorstep. Klambratún, one of the city’s largest parks, is a 5-minute walk away. Standard rooms are modern and spacious. 

Fosshotel Reykjavik (Deluxe Package): Fosshotel Reykjavík, Iceland’s largest hotel stands prominently in Reykjavík’s business district, only a short walk from the main shopping area. Its convenient location makes it an excellent base for the perfect Reykjavik city holiday.  You can easily explore Reykjavík's magnificent architecture, captivating history, vibrant markets and rich culture – the ideal starting point for experiencing the best of everything the city has to offer.
