My boat experience really exceeded my expectations. I made it to all the lectures ...all staff were fun, professional, and knowledgeable! The hardest part was getting on the bus for an airport transfer. This was by far the best vacation I've ever had, and well worth the money spent.
I liked - The people my husband and I met. We are looking forward to visiting them in the future. The inter-generational mix on the ship. And the fact that there were people from all over the world. What made this trip unique was the fact that we were together on a ship for several days--and thus were invited and encouraged to meet other runners and their supporters. Further, it was very nice that the supporters were warmly welcomed. This was greatly appreciated. Finally, the attention to ensuring the survival of the Antarctic environment and the wildlife through the Oceanites' connection is essential for this trip. I want to give a special shout out to Thom for his creative and inventive approach to adventure travel--and for his many efforts in sustaining and growing this opportunity. He has opened up worlds for individuals. Kudos to Jeff as well for seeing that Thom's vision, efforts and leadership are maintained and expand in the future.
"A marathon that I would encourage any marathoner to participate in. Marathon Tours did a great job on making all the arrangements (from arranging a driver to meeting me up at the airport, and return to the airport after my stay ended; hotel accommodations, etc.) The hotel was nice, and the hotel staff were friendly - this also applies to the Swedish people I met while there. The Expo was large. The start and finish line is within a few minutes walking distance from/to the hotel. The finish line had runners walking into the soccer field where the Race T-Shirts were given to all runners. A great trip that I highly recommend - I plan to repeat again in the future."
I can honestly say the logistics on race morning were much easier than the New York City Marathon. We lucked out on the Drake Passage and the weather on race day. The race course was challenging, but Marathon Tours told us it would be.
I loved the city and its people. Food was absolutely great, no wonder why Japan holds more Michelin starred restaurants than any other country. Their commitment to service is astonishing... I can't mention one single thing I liked the most.
Jeff was brilliant. We had some issues with my wife's plane ticket when we were leaving for Ushuaia, and he remained cool and calm the entire time while he worked with the airline to make sure that she had a seat on the plane. Thanks Jeff!!
Overall, this was an exceptional experience! Thanks to all for the incredible efforts and organization. The RunningFit team were helpful, supportive, very professional - the associated events were outstanding, Celebration Dinner, Pasta Dinner, Welcome Dinner. Love to do it again!
The Marine Corps Marathon is 26.2 miles of one emotional wave after another, with all the monuments and memorials. The Blue Mile is almost overwhelming. Great course support by the Marines and the sense of pride upon completion is like no other. A must do for every marathoner!
The MCM was a great experience. As an Army veteran, I was proud to participate in a race organized and managed so well by active duty military, the Marines. The race was challenging, fun, and meaningful. We'll be back in DC to run the MCM again in 2017.
The hotel was very nice, and super convenient! Walking distance to the marathon start as well as close to the Metro, the bus line to Georgetown, and several restaurants. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay for MCM.
